British multinational security, defence and aerospace company BAE Systems has renewed its partnership with UK Sport for a further four years.
BAE Systems began its co-operation as the official research and innovation partner to the UK’s high-performance sports agency in 2008, and the latest deal is worth £800,000 ($1.25 million/€940,000) throughout its term.
To mark the extended agreement with UK Sport, BAE Systems unveiled a new racing wheel for Britain’s Paralympic athletes, which it claims is capable of increasing acceleration by up to 20 per cent.
Other examples of the work BAE will undertake to aid Britain’s Olympic competitors are the application of its wind-tunnel technology to help improve the racing speed of its bobsleigh team and the development of a simulator to help taekwondo athletes hone their skills with less risk of injuries caused by repetitive impact.
