AT&T backs WEC’s new Mexican race

US telecommunications company AT&T has signed up as the presenting sponsor of the World Endurance Championship’s new race in Mexico.

The motor racing series’ 6 Hours of Mexico will be staged at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit in Mexico City from September 1-3.

It will be the fifth round on the 2016 WEC calendar, which includes nine events this season.

Victor Tiburcio, chief marketing officer of AT&T in Mexico, said: “AT&T came to Mexico to transform the telecommunications market and drive innovation with a robust and reliable 4G LTE network, traits that we share with the Spirit of Le Mans. We’re excited to bring this great event to Mexico because the racing world stands for the same values that inspire us to provide our users with better service every day.”

Terms of AT&T’s deal were not disclosed.
