Steelworks company Apex Steel has become a joint-major partner of Australian rules football team Port Adelaide.
Apex Steel joins Energy Australia and Main North Renault on Port Adelaide’s top sponsorship tier and its branding will feature on the team’s guernsey beneath the number panel for South Australian National Football League matches.
The company won Port Adelaide’s joint-major partnership draw to earn the designation, pipping 70 other private and business entrants. Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas hailed the initiative as a success and intends to use it in future seasons.
“The sponsorship draw was a successful concept that Port Adelaide used in our 1980s and 1990s heyday and we brought it back to find our new joint major partner this year,” he said. “It’s been very positively received by all our partner participants and within the club itself, so I’m sure we’ll look at continuing it next year.”
