Fina, the global governing body for swimming, has reached a sponsorship agreement with Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) for its World Championships.
The deal is for four years, running from 2015 through until 2018. It covers this year’s World Championships in Kazan, Russia from July 24 to August 9 and the July 2017 event in Budapest, Hungary.
The terms also include a presence for ANA at the World Swimming Championships (25m) in Windsor, Canada and Hangzhou, China in December 2016 and December 2018, respectively.
ANA will benefit from exclusive marketing rights in the airline category, with its branding appearing throughout event venues. The airline, which has been an official sponsor of the Japan Swimming Federation since 2004, will also be able to promote itself to athletes and event visitors, while using the Fina logo on promotional materials.
Earlier this month, ANA was named among the first batch of second-tier sponsors for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Osamu Shinobe, president and chief executive of ANA, said: “We believe aquatics and swimming will play an important role in the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which led us to this Fina partnership as well as our recent announcement as an official airline partner of Tokyo 2020.”
