Aircel extends Chennai Open title sponsorship

INDIAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS firm Aircel has extended its title sponsorship of the Chennai Open men’s tennis tournament for three more years, until 2016.

Aircel has been associated with India and South Asia’s only ATP World Tour event since the 15th edition of the yearly hard court competition was held in 2010.

“Our four-year association with the tournament has been very rewarding and has allowed us to engage directly with our key target segment,” said Aircel chief marketing officer Anupam Vasudev.

“We are confident that not only will it [the extension] harness the young tennis talent of India, but the property will grow further to become a global platform strengthening Chennai’s position on the international tennis map.”

Aircel is also a major sponsor of the Professional Golf Tour of India, and sponsors both Indian Premier League cricket side Chennai Super Kings and I-League outfit Shillong Lajong FC.
