Acer to offer players new ways to connect through LPGA deal

The Ladies Professional Golf Association has agreed a new commercial partnership with Taiwanese hardware and electronics company Acer.

Having previously held ties to the LPGA, Acer becomes its newest official marketing partner and will be the official tablet of the LPGA this tournament season.

Through its partnership, Acer is sponsoring Acer Connection Zones, lounges outfitted with its Aspire Switch Series 2-in-1 notebooks at upcoming tournaments in North America.

Acer Connection Zones will be located in the player locker rooms as a venue for players to Skype with friends, coaches and family. The Aspire Switch Series will also be leveraged at on-site tournament media centres, enabling global and domestic media to conduct interviews with players via Skype.

“We’re excited to bring the ‘Acer Connection Zone’ to our players as new, fun and more engaging way for our players to stay connected while they’re on the road,” Kelly Hyne, vice-president of strategic partnerships for the LPGA, said.  “Acer has been a supporter of the LPGA for the last three years and this concept takes our partnership to a new level.”

In addition to the Acer Connection Zone on site, Acer will have a presence throughout the season with hospitality and advertising, digital integration on LPGA.com and social media channels.

Acer will also sponsor several features throughout the season on pay-television broadcaster the Golf Channel. For the third consecutive year, Acer will serve as presenting sponsor at the upcoming LPGA Classic in New Jersey.
