Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today (Thursday) extended its top-tier sponsorship agreement for the Uefa Champions League club football competition.
The deal with European football’s governing body is for three seasons, covering the 2015-16 to 2017-18 campaigns of the Champions League.
The enhanced terms incorporate Sony Mobile’s Xperia brand within the mobile category alongside its PlayStation console, which is currently the official gaming partner of the tournament.
Alongside the Champions League, Sony’s sponsorship covers the Uefa Super Cup in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the Women’s Champions League and Youth League finals for the three seasons in question.
Sony is Uefa’s third official partner secured for this cycle alongside Heineken and Nissan. Sportswear giant Adidas is the official supplier partner for the same period.
Jim Ryan, president and chief executive at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said: “Our relationship with Uefa and the Uefa Champions League is incredibly important to us, and we see it as a very natural fit for our brand and audience. We are excited to continue this relationship for another three years, and look forward to bringing something new, fun and exciting to our gamers that will be a uniquely PlayStation approach to the Uefa Champions League.”
