Hotel and hospitality services group Wyndham Worldwide has signed a 10-year extension to its title sponsorship of the PGA Tour golf event in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The agreement commences when the current four-year deal for the Wyndham Championship concludes with the 2016 tournament. New terms will run through until the 2026 edition.
Financial services group BB&T has also agreed to remain as the tournament’s local presenting partner during the same period.
“We are extremely pleased to announce this new long-term commitment by Wyndham Worldwide, which represents a continuation of the tremendous progress the tournament has made through Wyndham’s support since 2007,” PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said.
“Wyndham has had a very positive impact on every aspect of the tournament, from helping the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation’s efforts to increase charitable contributions through the Wyndham Championship, to elevating the tournament’s visibility and on-site enjoyment through creative brand activities and promotions.”
The Wyndham Championship is the last event on the PGA Tour’s annual schedule before its post-season FedExCup Playoffs. This year’s tournament will take place from August 20-23, where Colombia’s Camilo Villegas (pictured) will defend his title.
