Stobart Stadium Halton, the home of English top tier rugby league club Widnes Vikings, is to be renamed under an initial three-year naming rights deal with Select Security Services, according to the Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News.
The deal is reported to be worth £50,000 (€58,343/$75,375) plus VAT per year, amounting to a six-figure sum over the course of the three-year agreement. The partnership also includes the additional option of a two-year extension at the end of the initial three years.
The newspaper said that the Vikings will not financially benefit from the deal, as the stadium is owned by the council and not the club itself.
An official announcement is due to be made before the Vikings’ Super League home game against Wigan Warriors on June 7.
