Caribbean brewery Banks Holdings has agreed a partnership deal with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) governing body for the upcoming six-match series between the West Indies and England national teams.
Under the deal, the brewery’s Banks Beers will serve as the official beer of the series, which comprises three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 (T20) Internationals.
Michael Muirhead, WICB’s chief executive, hinted that the deal would not just cover the upcoming series.
“We have had a relationship with Banks before, it is one that has been nurtured over the years, and now they are coming in a more wholesome manner,” he said. “It will not just cover the tour by England this year but it has a more implications. We have brought many sponsors on board as we look to develop the game and with Banks joining we expect that much more will happen in the future.”
The first three ODIs will take place at the sir Vivian Richards Ground in Antigua on February 28, March 2 and March 5. The three T20 Internationals are due to be held at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on March 9,11 and 13.
