Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Vitória has appointed Brazilian sportswear brand Topper as its new kit supplier.
The four-year deal will run until the end of the 2020 season. Topper replaces German sportswear company Puma as Vitória’s kit partner.
In what Vitória claims is a first for Brazilian football, any net profit generated by Topper from the partnership will be reverted back to the club.
Club president Ivã Almeida said: “The dynamics of football require that the sport become professionalised. We should not always accept the same thing, we can seek better things. We analyse and make corrections. This is the specific case of what happened when negotiating the sports equipment (contract). We moved to Topper, inaugurating a new business model. Of course, many teams will (now) copy this model.”
Topper previously supplied Vitória’s kit between 1996 and 2003. The company will launch the club’s new kit next month.
