Vietnamese brand renews with AFF Suzuki Cup

Vietnamese dry cell and storage battery manufacturer Pinaco has renewed its partnership with this year’s AFF Suzuki Cup as an Official Supporter.

The deal was brokered by the football division of Lagardère Sports in Asia – the exclusive commercial partner of the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Under the deal, Pinaco will get brand exposure and fan engagement opportunities across the region.

The Pinaco logo will be displayed on official tournament collateral and perimeter advertising boards in every stadium.

The AFF Suzuki Cup is a biennial football event organised by the Asean Football Federation (AFF), accredited by Fifa, and contested by the national ‘A’ teams of Southeast Asia.

Matches are hosted in 11 venues across the region, one for each participating country.

The Vietnamese national team football is on an upswing following the Vietnam U23 team’s run to the final of the AFC U23 Championship in China and, more recently, at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where the national team reached the semi-finals.

The partnership is understood to be a three-season deal, from 2019-20 to 2021-22, and builds on AXA’s existing Global Partner agreement with Liverpool.

The deal is the largest ever sponsorship investment in UK women’s sport and comes less than a year after the league went fully professional in September 2018.

Under the five-year global deal, Oppo will become the first Official Smartphone Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, as the event is officially known.

US sportswear brand Nike is paying about $7.5m (€6.7m) per year to sponsor China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), according to industry sources.
