Sportswear giant Adidas has agreed a long-term partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s athletics programme.
Under a seven-year deal, running from 2015-16 through until the end of the 2021-22 season, Adidas will be the official footwear, apparel and accessory brand of the university’s Phoenix teams. Financial terms were not disclosed.
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay director of athletics Mary Ellen-Gillespie said: “This is an incredible partnership with a gold standard company that values student-athletes and the opportunity to help an institution brand itself nationally. We were seeking a partner that would strive to work with all 16 of our programmes and we found that partner in Adidas.”
The department will begin a transition into Adidas apparel and equipment this season and will be fully outfitted by the brand by the beginning of 2016-17. Adidas Group North America president Mark King, a former Phoenix golfer at UW-Green Bay, helped to broker the deal.
UW-Green Bay joins an Adidas National Collegiate Athletics Association roster that includes Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Texas A&M, UCLA and Wisconsin.
