Unibet snaps up EuroHockey Championships title sponsorship

Online gambling operator Unibet has signed up as the title sponsor of the 2015 EuroHockey Championships.

Unibet struck the deal with the European Hockey Federation, which operates the national team tournament, and England Hockey, the host association. The competition will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London from August 21-30.

The Unibet EuroHockey Championships will comprise 40 matches over 10 days at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, with the women’s and men’s champions crowned over the weekend of August 29-30.

“We believe this deal fits in with Unibet's passionate, friendly and expert values,” Phillip Manzi, Unibet UK’s country manager, said. “Unibet pride ourselves on being the home for all sports, especially those that people are passionate about, and hockey certainly fits the bill.”

The President of the EHF, Marijke Fleuren, added: “I would like to congratulate England Hockey on securing a title sponsor for the EuroHockey Championships. From the outset, all the stakeholders agreed that these championships would be about putting the players first, also a core strategy of Unibet. We welcome Unibet and share its wish for players to play in a fair-play environment.”
