AMERICAN SPORTS clothing manufacturer Under Armour has agreed an eight-year sponsorship and supply deal with USA Gymnastics.
The agreement applies to both the men’s and women’s gymnastics teams, as well as the national trampoline and tumbling squads, which also fall under the direction of USA Gymnastics.
Taking over from previous partner adidas, Under Armour will provide clothing, footwear and accessories for the USA Gymnastics teams, coaches and staff at the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Games.
Sports apparel brand GK Elite, which has manufactured USA Gymnastics’ performance clothing since 2000, will work with the Baltimore-based company to design new leotards for the team.
“The plans we have discussed for our partnership have the potential to elevate both of our brands in the United States and on the international stage,” said USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny.
Under Armour is also the current kit supplier of English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and the Welsh national rugby union team.
