Japanese car maker Toyota has signed up as a global partner of the International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) 2014 World Championship for Women.
Toyota will also be the official car of the international team basketball tournament when the 17th edition of the event takes place in the Turkish cities of Istanbul and Ankara from September 27 to October 5 this year.
The event will feature basketball’s 16 leading women’s national teams, with Fiba and the Turkish Basketball federation having placed an emphasis on affordable ticket prices for families and children.
The financial terms of Fiba's agreement with Toyota were not disclosed.
Fiba secretary general Patrick Baumann said: "The Fiba World Championship for Women is fast approaching and we are extremely pleased to have a world-leading and renowned brand like Toyota come on board and be a part of this unique event. It speaks to the high quality level of the tournament."
