The Sports Consultancy agency has said it will develop an “innovative commercial programme” for the 2018 World Sailing Championships in the Danish city of Aarhus after entering into a partnership with event organisers.
The agency’s marketing consultancy team will work closely with the city of Aarhus and will develop a coherent commercial structure for the championships, as well as dedicated packages. The team will be headed by The Sports Consultancy’s sponsorship sales professional Marc Hope.
“We were impressed with The Sports Consultancy’s breadth of expertise across a range of global sporting events and their innovative approach, all of which were key to their appointment,” Franka Abrahamsen, head of the championships, said. “They share our passion to make 2018 World Sailing Championships a game changer.”
The 2018 Championships are being jointly organised by the Danish Sailing Association; World Sailing, the sport’s global governing body; Sailing Aarhus; Sport Event Denmark and the city of Aarhus.
Denmark’s second largest city fended off competition from Busan (Korea), Gdynia (Poland) and The Hague (Netherlands) to land the rights to the World Sailing showpiece, which is held every four years and is a key event for sailors campaigning for places at the Olympic Games.
