US sportswear firm Under Armour has secured a long-term partnership extension with the Temple University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Under the 10-year extension, Under Armour will provide uniforms, apparel and footwear for Temple’s 19 varsity sports teams from 2016 through until 2025.
Financial terms for the agreement were not formally disclosed, although the Philadelphia Inquirer reported it was worth $30m (€27m) for its duration.
The newspaper believes this to amount to a tenfold increase in annual value, after Temple’s previous five-year contract was worth a reported $1.5m.
Patrick Kraft, Temple’s director of athletics, said: “Under Armour is one of the most respected brands in the industry and has been a great partner with Temple Athletics over the last five years. This new partnership will continue to provide our student-athletes with state-of-the-art product and will help to increase the visibility of our brand on a national level.”
