The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) has selected Swiss-based agency Synergy Sports to market the sponsorship rights to its Copa Sudamericana club competition.
Synergy will market the rights for the 2017 and 2018 editions of the tournament at premium partner, official sponsor and official supplier level.
“The Conmebol Sudamericana is one of the most authentic football events in the world, and one that offers partners pan-regional visibility at venues, on TV, via press coverage and social media,” Synergy Sports director Patrick Murphy said. “Conmebol can offer sponsors another high-quality consistent platform, delivering engagement opportunities across most of the year.”
Last year’s Copa Sudamericana title was awarded to Chapecoense, after 19 of the Brazilian club’s players were killed in November when their plane came down on a mountainside near La Union, a small town near the Colombian city of Medellin. Chapecoense had been travelling to face local side Atlético Nacional in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final.
This year’s Copa Sudamericana began last month. In February, Conmebol appointed the IMG agency to market the sponsorship rights to its top-tier Copa Libertadores club competition, also across the 2017 and 2018 editions.
