Chinese consumer electronics brand Hisense has entered into a partnership with South Africa’s Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU), through which it will serve as an associate sponsor of the body’s Super Rugby franchise.
Hisense will serve as the official electronics partner of the GLRU. The agreement covers the 2017 editions of the pan-regional Super Rugby tournament and the domestic Currie Cup competition.
As an associate sponsor of the Super Rugby franchise, Hisense’s branding will feature on the right shoulder of the team’s kit. Hisense will also be granted exclusive signage rights within Emirates Airline Park, the team’s home stadium.
Under the agreement, Hisense will provide products including smartphones and ULED televisions to staff and players.
“We take great care when selecting our sponsors, only choosing dynamic partnerships, those who consumers can engage with on an ongoing basis, and can become part of the fibre of the matches our team plays,” Rudolf Straeuli, GLRU chief executive, said. “With Hisense being one of the largest electronics companies worldwide, and with a strong presence locally, we couldn’t ask for more.”
