SunTrust banks on Atlanta Falcons stadium deal

Financial services organisation SunTrust Banks has extended its association with NFL American football team Atlanta Falcons to become a founding partner of its new stadium.

The New Atlanta Stadium will be home to the Falcons and Major League Soccer expansion franchise Atlanta United FC from spring 2017, with a capacity that can expand up to 83,000.

SunTrust has been a sponsor of Atlanta Falcons for more than 10 years and will continue to serve as the official bank of the team while becoming a title sponsor of one of the premiere field level clubs at the new stadium. The terms of the new agreement were not disclosed.

"Our great partnership with the Falcons organisation has been particularly rewarding over the years, providing positive exposure for SunTrust and the opportunity to work together in the community," Bill Rogers, chairman and chief executive of SunTrust, said. "This enhancement of our relationship in the new stadium will provide us a bigger platform to promote our purpose of lighting the way to financial well-being."

In September 2014, SunTrust Bank signed a 25-year deal to become the naming sponsor of the new Atlanta Braves Stadium, the Major League Baseball facility which will also open in 2017.
