Sock brand Stance has renewed its title sponsorship of the World Adaptive Surfing Championship ahead of the 2018 event in La Jolla, California.
This year’s event, which runs from December 12-16, will mark the fourth consecutive year that Stance has supported the competition.
The World Adaptive Surfing Championship is organised by the International Surfing Association. This year’s event will feature more than 25 of the world’s best national para-surfing teams.
Stance initially supported the event as a presenting sponsor in 2015 before becoming the title sponsor the following year.
La Jolla also hosted the 2017 event, which featured a record-breaking 109 athletes. The event was the first to take place after the ISA was officially recognised by the International Paralympic Committee.
ISA president Fernando Aguerre said: “Our commitment to para-surfing is representative of our inclusive nature as a federation and our push to spread the joy of the sport worldwide. Surfing has a therapeutic power to heal that we believe can be used to change people’s lives.
“We would also like to give a big thanks to Stance for extending their support to us in our pursuit to grow the adaptive surfing movement. Stance has been, and will continue to be, an integral part and key partner of our aim to grow and develop adaptive surfing within all of our 103 member nations.”
