Consumer electronics giant Sony has agreed a four year extension to its title sponsorship of Hawaii’s PGA Tour golf tournament.
The agreement – sealed following negotiations between Sony, the PGA Tour and host organisation Friends of Hawaii Charities – takes effect following the 2014 tournament at Waialae Country Club and extends Sony’s commitment through to the 20th anniversary of its association with the event in 2018.
“In addition to supporting the charitable initiatives of the Friends of Hawaii, Sony has actively showcased its new products and technology at the tournament, uniquely adding to the fan experience,” PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said.
The 2014 Sony Open will take place on January 9-12. Russell Henley will defend his title after the 24-year-old American claimed his maiden PGA Tour victory at this year’s tournament.
