German Bundesliga football club Bayern Munich has entered into a three-year partnership with Siemens.
The conglomerate, which has headquarters in Munich and Berlin, has been named as a performance partner of the club for the 2017-18 to 2019-20 seasons.
Under the agreement, an increased number of Siemens technology systems will be fitted in and around Bayern’s Allianz Arena, and at the club’s Säbener Strasse training ground. The partnership also covers Bayern’s basketball team.
The partnership will focus on software and cloud-based services relating to power engineering, building technology, safety and security technologies. Mobility solutions for local public transportation and traffic management systems will also form part of the association.
The company’s Siemens Healthineers division will additionally serve as an official partner and the exclusive healthcare technology partner of Bayern for the same three-year period. Siemens Healthineers will provide solutions at the Allianz Arena and at the club's training ground to support the health of players.
Siemens president and chief executive Joe Kaeser (pictured left, next to Bayern president Uli Hoeness) said: “Our technologies and knowledge of digitalisation will enable us to help the club further increase its success both nationally and internationally since modern, high-performance sports require high-performance technologies. Siemens and FC Bayern share a passion for performance and quality. At FC Bayern, it’s all about athletic excellence. At Siemens, it’s all about engineering excellence.”
