ShopRite retains title rights to LPGA event

Retailers supermarket co-operative Wakefern Food Corp has extended its ShopRite chain’s long-running title sponsorship of the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s Atlantic City Classic.

The renewed terms, brokered by Eiger Marketing Group, run through 2016 and the tournament will continue to be known as the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Wakefern Food Corp first took on the naming rights to the event in 1992. Taiwanese electronics firm Acer serves as the presenting sponsor.

The 2014 ShopRite LPGA Classic takes place at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey on the week beginning May 26, with a $1.5m (€1.1m) prize purse up for grabs. All three rounds of the tournament will be televised on specialist US pay-television channel Golf Channel.
