Train operator ScotRail has agreed a partnership with the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to assist in the hosting of the multi-sport event.
ScotRail, part of the Aberdeen-based FirstGroup, has been planning for the Games for more than two years and was a supporter of the Scottish city’s original bid.
Under the agreement, it will deliver an enhanced timetable of high-frequency services on key routes across Glasgow to host venues, with more than one million passenger journeys expected over the 11 days of competition.
Transport on ScotRail services within the designated city boundaries will be included in the price of Commonwealth Games tickets for Glasgow 2014 spectators. The company will also provide increased capacity on long-distance trains linking Glasgow with other parts of Scotland.
Additionally, ScotRail will be an official supporter of Team Scotland at Glasgow 2014.
