Rolex and European Tour seal decade-long extension

Golf’s European Tour and Swiss luxury watch brand Rolex have extended their long-established partnership until 2022.

Rolex has been the official timekeeper of the European Tour since 1997 and the decade-long extension includes the company’s association with biennial matchplay event the Ryder Cup.

Under the agreement, Rolex will support and enjoy a presence at the European Tour’s 46 tournaments across 25 countries.

“Rolex’s commitment to the game of golf is unparalleled,” George O’Grady, chief executive of the European Tour, said. “They have been a valued partner of the Tour over many years, supporting us in every aspect of our mission to deliver golf worldwide.

"Rolex support us right across the board of all of our Tours, including the Senior Tour, the Challenge Tour, the Ryder Cup and the European Tour itself. Rolex’s partnership with us is unique and exceptional and together we look forward to creating a stage for tomorrow’s golfers and working to shape the future of the European Tour.”

The deal was announced ahead of the Tour’s showpiece season finale, the World Tour Championship in Dubai, where a host of the world’s top golfers will contest an $8m (€5.9m) prize fund.
