The Rio Open ATP men’s and WTA women’s tennis tournament has extended its sponsorship deal with telecommunications company Claro.
Claro will continue as main sponsor of the event for its 2016 edition, which is set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from February 15-21.
The clay-court tournament is still in its infancy having only been added to the tennis calendar last year. Claro was also the main sponsor of the 2014 and 2015 tournaments.
“The Rio Open has quickly become one of the most successful sporting calendar events in Brazil and Latin America and we are proud to have believed in the project since its inception,” Carlos Zenteno, Claro’s chief executive, said.
The current champions of the Rio Open are Spaniard David Ferrer (pictured) and Sara Errani of Italy.
