Redskins team up with Safeway

NFL American football team the Washington Redskins has entered into a partnership with supermarket chain Safeway.

The deal, the length of which was not disclosed, names Safeway as the official supermarket of the Redskins, as well as the team’s exclusive grocery partner.

Safeway will benefit from Redskins-related public events, player appearances, charitable programs, in-store promotions and on-site fan experiences. Safeway stores in the Washington, D.C. area will launch Redskins ‘Hailgating’ sections where fans can pick up game-day items, food, beverages and Redskins and merchandise.

Additionally, Safeway becomes the presenting sponsor of the RedZone Lot, FedEx Field’s tailgating lot that opens to fans an hour before all surrounding lots. Safeway and the Redskins will celebrate the best ‘Hailgaters’ throughout the season across social media, on Redskins.com and through in-game video features.
