RBC tees up Canada Cup sponsorship

Sports management and marketing agency SportBox Entertainment Group has brokered a partnership with golf’s PGA Tour to make Canadian financial institution RBC the title sponsor of the Canada Cup.

The 2014 Canada Cup pits Team Canada against Team World in an 18-hole exhibition match in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The nine-hole singles/nine-hole team event is part of the Golfest Nova Scotia at Ashburn Golf Club – New Course, running from June 30 to July 6, which concludes with the Web.com Nova Scotia Open tournament.

RBC has an established presence in golf through relationships with the PGA Tour and Golf Canada. It is the official banking and financial services partner of touring professionals David Hearn, Graham DeLaet, Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker, Hunter Mahan, Luke Donald, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Matt Kuchar, Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, and Morgan Pressel.

Hearn, DeLaet, and Weir will form Team Canada at the Canada Cup, while Kuchar features alongside Trevor Immelman and Gary Woodland on the opposing side.

As the title sponsor of both the RBC Heritage and the RBC Canadian Open, RBC also supports emerging Canadian golfers through Golf Canada's grassroots developmental programming, their Canadian Amateur Golf Championships and national team.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.
