Austrian energy company Wien Energie has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with SK Rapid Vienna, which plays in the country’s Bundesliga top-tier club football competition.
The agreement will run for a further two years, from the 2017-18 season until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Wien Energie will retain its role as the main sponsor of the club and company branding will continue to appear on the front of Rapid Vienna’s playing jerseys.
In addition, Wien Energie will continue to work with Rapid Vienna on a series of fan-focused initiatives.
The renewal extends a relationship that stretches back to the 2003-04 season.
Rapid Vienna managing director Christoph Peschek said: “Wien Energie is particularly proud to be 100 per cent behind this cooperation even in difficult times, whether economically as it was a few years ago, or even sportingly. This is not self-evident and I would like to express a special thanks for this loyalty.”
Rapid Vienna will today (Thursday) play Red Bull Salzburg in the final of the Austrian Cup knockout competition. The winning team will gain a place in the third qualification round of the 2017-18 Uefa Europa League pan-European tournament.
