PyeongChang 2018 secures two new suppliers

Korean travel agency Hanjin Travel and the Hanwha Corporation conglomerate have agreed deals to become official suppliers of the PyeongChang 2018 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Hanjin Travel has been named the Games’ official supplier of national trip hospitality and travel agency services.

Under the agreement, it will provide ticketing, transportation, accommodation and food services for tourists during the event. Hanjin Travel will also provide travel support services for international client groups.

Hanjin Travel has in the past partnered with Gangneung, which will host ice sports during the Games, to drive tourism to the city.

Hanjin Travel chief executive Kwon Oh-sang said: “Hanjin Travel, along with the support of Hanjin Group sister companies Korean Air (air travel services) and Hanjin Transportation (logistics services) that have already signed up as PyeongChang 2018 sponsors, will be able to provide the highest quality of hospitality to all who come to Korea for the Games in 2018 .”

Meanwhile, Hanwha has been named the Games’ official supplier of fireworks and torches.
The company will provide organisers with fireworks for use during the Games’ opening and closing ceremonies. Hanwha will also supply around 8,000 torches for use during the torch relay that precedes the Games.

The supplier category is the third tier of PyeongChang 2018’s domestic sponsorship tree.
