Porsche drives into US sports market with New York Jets

German automotive company Porsche has agreed a multi-year deal to become the official sports car and luxury vehicle of NFL American football franchise the New York Jets.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed, although ESPN.com reported that the two parties have agreed a “seven-figure” deal.

Under the agreement, Porsche becomes the presenting partner of the Green Room, a hospitality suite and exclusive club at MetLife Stadium, the Jets’ home ground. A select number of Jets fans that are suite partners, premium season ticket holders or corporate partners with the club will also be given the chance to sample unique driving experiences courtesy of Porsche.

In addition, Porsche’s brand will be promoted at Jets training camps and during other special events at the club’s training centre. Jets 360, the Jets’ production company, will also launch the Players in Porsches video series, which will feature Jets players interviewing one another while driving Porsche vehicles.

“For us, we are always looking to establish partnerships with elite companies and iconic brands, and Porsche certainly exemplifies that,” Jets president Neil Glat said. “Collectively, we have created a multi-faceted program that goes beyond more traditional deals and are excited to showcase it all to our fans.”

The deal marks Porsche’s first with an NFL club and first exclusive sponsorship agreement with a US sports franchise.
