Dutch Eredivisie football club PSV Eindhoven has extended its long-running partnership with technology company Philips.
Philips, which in April agreed to end its shirt sponsorship of PSV at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, has signed a new 10-year deal to remain a key sponsor of the club.
As part of the deal, starting from next season the ‘PSV founded by Philips’ message will appear on the club’s shirt sleeves until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
In addition, Philips has agreed a deal to remain the naming rights partner of the Eredivisie champion’s 35,000-seat Philips Stadion home for the next 10 years.
PSV said the new partnership will be worth €3m ($3.2m) per year over the initial five years of the contract.
Hans de Jong, chief executive of Philips Benelux, said: “Philips is proud of its long and successful partnership with PSV. The company has and will continue to have close involvement with ‘our club’ and in the next few years we will be focusing on substantive collaboration and joint innovations, thereby creating value for each other.
“Here at Philips we are concentrating on the impact that our innovations have on people’s lives. An illustration of this is the LED floodlighting that has just been completed in the Philips Stadion, making this stadium a worldwide showcase for us. We also see opportunities for showcasing health-related innovations in conjunction with PSV.”
PSV was founded by Philips employees in 1913. Philips has served as PSV’s main shirt sponsor for the past 34 years.
