Indian payment services company Oxigen has agreed a season-long deal to become the official sponsor of the New Zealand Twenty20 cricket team.
The agreement begins immediately and will cover the World Twenty20 national team tournament, which is currently ongoing in India, as well as New Zealand’s tour of India in October and November.
As part of the deal, Oxigen’s branding will appear on New Zealand’s playing jerseys. The company’s logo will appear on the leading arm of the jerseys during the World T20, and on the chest during the India tour.
Oxigen is developing a growing presence in T20 cricket, having recently partnered the South African national team and title sponsored the inaugural Masters Champions League tournament, which took place in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
“This sponsorship is inspired by the overwhelming response Oxigen wallet received with our sponsorship of the South African T20 team, Oxigen Proteas, last season,” Pramod Saxena, chairman and managing director at Oxigen Services, said. “We ran an innovative campaign by becoming a host nation that welcomes its international guests.
“The campaign #Playthehost will see its second season, as we play the host to the New Zealand Blackcaps for WT20, who have a strong fan following and will amplify our brand engagement.”
New Zealand on Tuesday defeated host India in its opening match of the World T20 and made it two wins from two earlier today (Friday) when beating Australia by eight runs.
