Ottobock supports Gold Coast 2018

Prosthetic products manufacturer Ottobock has signed a deal to sponsor the 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games multi-sport event, which will be held in Australia’s Gold Coast region.

Under the agreement, Ottobock will become the official prosthetic, orthotic and wheelchair repair provider for the para-athletes at the event.

Gold Coast 2018 is set to take place from April 4 to 15. There will be up to 300 para-athletes competing in 38 medal events, across seven para sports, making it the largest integrated para-sports programme at any major sporting event.

As part of the deal, Ottobock will offer athletes free technical service for the duration of competition.

Ottobock’s managing director, Thomas Much said: “Our main workshop will be open daily in the Commonwealth Games Village with mobile workshops located at Games venues and training sites to provide help as soon as possible in case of technical problems.

“We’ll also provide around-the-clock support to ensure any devices athletes need for their everyday routine or to reach the competition can be repaired regardless of the manufacturer.”
