Singapore supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice has reached a deal worth S$5m (€2.9m/$4m) to become a tier one sponsor of the 2015 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The biennial multi-sport event comes to Singapore next year and the NTUC FairPrice sponsorship moves the Games’ organising committee towards the S$50m sponsorship target it set last year.
NTUC FairPrice’s contribution will be broken down into S$2m cash and S$3m in kind through products such as mineral water and snacks during the event, which runs from June 5-16 next year.
Ng Ser Miang, chairman of NTUC FairPrice and its charitable FairPrice Foundation, said: “This is the largest donation FairPrice and FairPrice Foundation have made to a sporting event to date. This is also in line with FairPrice Foundation's goal to promote nation-building and community bonding through sports.”
NTUC FairPrice will use its association with the SEA Games to boost its community initiatives enacted under the FairPrice Foundation.
