NRL’s Warriors extend long-running Vodafone connection

Auckland-based rugby league team the Warriors have renewed their long-standing naming sponsorship agreement with telecommunications group Vodafone until the end of the 2018 NRL season.

The extension marks a 20-year co-operation between Warriors and Vodafone – the longest-running naming-rights deal in New Zealand professional sport. The agreement started when the team entered the NRL in 1995.

Vodafone’s renewal extends throughout the club, including the Junior Warriors under-20 team and the new Warriors reserve grade side, which will replace the Auckland Vulcans team in the New South Wales Cup regional competition.

Across 15 seasons so far, Vodafone’s name and logo has featured on the front and back of the Warriors jersey.

It will do so once more when the team begins its 2014 NRL campaign at Parramatta Eels on Sunday, before its opening home game at Eden Park with St George Illawarra Dragons on March 15.
