US sportswear manufacturer Nike has signed a long-term extension to its partnership with the British Athletics national governing body.
The new agreement will run until 2030, with Nike to retain its position as British Athletics’ official team wear provider.
The deal covers all competing age groups and incorporates off-track disciplines, with Nike to also support the British Athletics’ Futures Programme.
The new deal has been signed with the 2017 World Athletics Championships currently taking place in London.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed but British Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos said the deal represented “one of the strongest ever collaborations for athletics in the UK.”
He added: “As well as their apparel and kit ensuring our athletes look and feel the part when representing the nation, their investment in the Futures programme demonstrates real commitment to supporting the next generation of British Team athletes.
“This commitment to British Athletics is a brilliant platform of support for the sport to move forward with. We’re looking forward to collaborating with Nike further over the next few years on some exciting projects.”
Bert Hoyt, vice-president and general manager of Nike EMEA, added: “This is a statement of commitment to the sport and supporting world class athletes – investing in the talent of today and tomorrow.”
Nike first partnered with British Athletics in 2013 and replaced German firm Adidas as the body’s kit supplier. Nike’s previous deal with the organisation had been due to expire at the end of 2020.
