US sportswear company Nike has been named as an official partner of this year’s European Athletics Championships in Berlin.
Nike recently identified the German capital as one of its 12 key cities around the world and the company is set to use this summer’s event to further grow its presence in the region.
Bert Hoyt, vice-president and general manager of Nike EMEA, said: “Nike’s mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world, and this partnership will allow us to better serve athletes in sports obsessed Berlin and beyond.”
Berlin is hosting athletics events during the inaugural European Championships, with Glasgow in Scotland due to host golf, aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon events.
The Championships will run from August 2-12, with events at the Olympiastadion (pictured) in Berlin to begin on August 7.
