The National Football League will be easing the restrictions on team and player likeness in beer, wine and distilled spirit sponsorships.
Morning Consult revealed the details of a leaked email from the NFL to its franchises and marketing executives which discussed the revised policy.
The new policy will allow more use of player likeness with the official league sponsor Bud Light as well as with individual team sponsors. However, substantial restrictions still apply to how player likenesses can be used and a sponsor must sign with a team to use an individual active player in any advertisements.
The policy will come into effect for the 2019 season.
