New Jersey-based fantasy sports technology and content provider Hotbox Sports Ventures has entered into a sponsorship agreement with its local NHL ice hockey team the New Jersey Devils.
The deal marks the first time a fantasy sports property has signed a commercial partnership with an NHL team. The terms of the tie-up were not disclosed.
From late November, Hotbox Sports will promote its HotBoxSports.com website in association with the Devils through in-arena signage and exposure via the franchise's social and traditional media channels.
Hotbox Sports will deliver a social and team-focused game to Devils fans, featuring only players from the teams’ roster and its games.
"Fantasy sports plays an important role in a fan’s experience, and we wanted to bring Devils fans a game where they could focus on their favourite players and their favourite team,” New Jersey Devils chief executive Scott O’Neil said. “Our collaboration with Hotbox Sports, offering both free-to-play games and this first-of-its-kind entry-fee game, will ensure Devils fans have an unrivalled fantasy game experience.”
