NBA’s 76ers drops Wells Fargo name from home arena

North American NBA basketball franchise the Philadelphia 76ers have dropped the name of banking and financial services company Wells Fargo from their home arena.

Wells Fargo has a naming rights deal for the Wells Fargo Center running through until 2024.

However, the 76ers has stopped referring to the Comcast Spectacor-owned venue as such after Wells Fargo opted against becoming a business partner of the team. References to the arena on Philadelphia’s website and in press releases now simply mention “The Center”.

“We also continue to enjoy our relationship with Comcast Spectacor as tenants at a world-class arena, but that particular bank is currently not a sponsor of the Philadelphia 76ers,” Chris Heck, the chief revenue officer of the 76ers, told the Associated Press news agency.
