NBA tips off new season with Sears and Under Armour renewals

North American basketball league the NBA has renewed its partnerships with Sears and Under Armour.

Terms of the deals were undisclosed, but retail group Sears will return as the title sponsor of Shooting Stars, a specialty shooting competition at the NBA All-Star event, and sportswear firm Under Armour will continue to work with the league to grow its line of basketball footwear.

As part of the partnership, Under Armour’s endorsers – which include Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Brandon Jennings of the Detroit Pistons, Raymond Felton of the New York Knicks and Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Bobcats  – will be featured in their NBA uniforms to promote the company’s basketball footwear brand in national marketing campaigns and at retail.

Sears will build upon the success of its first year as the title sponsor of Shooting Stars and reward one fan a special experience through Shop Your Way – Sears’ free, members-only program and shopping community that offers rewards, personalised savings deals and product reviews and services – at NBA All-Star 2014 in New Orleans.

A Shop Your Way member will win the chance to present the Sears Shooting Stars championship trophy to the winning team during the on-court presentation.

The two deals were announced as the 2013-14 NBA season got underway on Tuesday.
