Communications technology provider Motorola Solutions has signed up as a sponsor of the inaugural Women’s Tour of Scotland cycling event.
Motorola Solutions will sponsor the red sprinter’s jersey and provide two-way radio communications for the three-day event, which will start in Dundee this Friday, August 9.
The company’s partner, Roadphone, will equip the teams with MOTOTRBO devices. Motorola was the first company in cycling to provide telecommunications devices to keep cyclists in touch with team staff members.
The deal has boosted the tour’s commercial partner portfolio, which already includes Baillie Gifford, Deloitte, Scimitar and Wow Hydrate.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) confirmed the launch of the tour last October, with the event forming part of the women’s professional cycling calendar for 2019.
The event will travel through five cities on its 350km route.
