French Ligue 1 football team AS Monaco has agreed a kit deal with US sportswear giant Nike which will run until at least 2019.
Nike replaces Italian company Macron as Monaco’s kit manufacturer from the 2014-15 season and will also provide training apparel and equipment.
To mark the agreement, Monaco on Sunday revealed its new home kit for 2014-15, which is based on the classic red-and-white diagonal halves design that the club first wore on the way to its first French league title in 1960-61.
Monaco concluded the 2013-14 Ligue 1 season with a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux, finishing second in the table behind champion Paris Saint-Germain. It was the club’s first season back in the French top flight since its December 2011 takeover by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev and Monaco will compete in the Uefa Champions League next term.
Dermott Cleary, vice-president and general manager of Nike Football, said: “AS Monaco are one of the most exciting football clubs in Europe and their ambition to become one of the world’s leading clubs is clear.”
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev added: “This partnership supports our global strategy as we look to grow AS Monaco as one of the world's leading football clubs and we look forward to working closely with Nike.”
