Swiss chocolate brand Milka has agreed a deal to become a main sponsor of the Vierschanzentournee, the showpiece ski jumping series that is also known as the Four Hills Tournament.
Under the agreement, Milka will be granted extensive brand exposure at each of the four competitions that make up the 2016-17 series. It will mark the first time Milka has sponsored the series since the 2009-10 season.
As part of the deal, Milka’s logo will appear on LED advertising boards and on inflatables around the course. During the New Year’s event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, its branding will also feature on the bibs of competitors, on the event's leaderboard and in the backdrop of the awards ceremony.
Milka, which is part of the Mondelēz International group, will be given further promotional and activation rights, as well as hospitality packages. The agreement was brokered by the Infront Sports & Media agency, which serves as the exclusive marketing partner of the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) and the German Ski Federation (DSV) for the series.
“On an annual basis, the Vierschanzentournee is the sporting highlight at the turn of the year, which is an ideal time to reach our audiences in key markets,” Dieter Heger, head of international sponsorship at Milka, said. “We committed to this attractive platform in order to achieve a high advertising presence and reach in both Alpine and Nordic skiing.”
The Vierschanzentournee is held annually across Germany and Austria. The 2016-17 season will comprise events in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen and takes place from December 29 to January 6.
