Luxury accessories and apparel brand Michael Kors has agreed a deal to become the official lifestyle partner of Formula One motor racing team McLaren-Honda.
As part of the deal, Michael Kors’ branding will adorn the overalls of McLaren’s two drivers, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, and will also feature on the team’s MP4-31 car. The length of the partnership was not disclosed.
To mark the agreement, Michael Kors has developed a range of 50 co-branded men’s leather jackets. The jackets, which feature the Michael Kors and McLaren logos, will be sold exclusively at the company’s new store in London.
Ron Dennis, executive chairman and chief executive of the McLaren Group, said: “The two brands are extremely well suited to a long-term partnership. That brand fit is very important to both of us: both companies have built their reputations on being the very best at what they do, and, as we now march forward together, we’ll both become stronger still.”
The partnership marks Michael Kors’ first foray into Formula One. McLaren currently sits seventh in the F1 constructors’ championship following last weekend’s European Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan.
