Melbourne Storm takes flight with Tigerair

Australian NRL rugby league team Melbourne Storm has signed a two-year deal to make Tigerair its official airline partner.

Storm initially partnered with the low-cost airline for the closing rounds of the 2013 season. The new agreement covers the 2014 and 2015 editions of the NRL.

The Tigerair logo will appear on the lower back position of the Melbourne jersey, while a range of marketing initiatives are planned to align the company with Storm fans.

Tigerair commercial director Carly Brear said: “There are many mutually beneficial opportunities we can leverage from this exciting partnership with Melbourne Storm.

“We already fly to most of the destinations on the NRL calendar and we are about to embark on a significant phase of growth which will see more routes and new destinations launching over the next few years.”

Melbourne Storm finished third in the 2013 NRL table before missing out to Newcastle Knights in the finals series play-offs.
