Formula One motor racing team McLaren-Honda has signed a three-year partnership with Japanese telecommunications company NTT.
Under the agreement NTT Communications becomes a technology partner to McLaren and will provide network, cloud, data connectivity and other services to support the British team.
NTT Communications and McLaren said they will also work together to explore other advanced technologies capable of enhancing the performance of the team.
Although on-car branding was not specified in the deal announcement, McLaren has commenced the British Grand Prix weekend with NTT Communications’ logo on its rear wing.
Ron Dennis, chairman and chief executive of the McLaren Technology Group that includes the McLaren-Honda team, said: “NTT has a long association with technology that goes all the way back to the introduction of the telegraph in Japan. Given McLaren’s long association with innovation, it is only fitting that we should join forces with such an established and well-respected leader in enterprise communications technology who well understands our own drive for relentless technical development.”
